1. Developing a Kingdom attitude: He clearly claims that God himself created the kingdom attitude and developed those attitudes in his life and ministry with YWAM and World Vision by God’s grace. He says kingdom attitude helps a person to develop servant leadership. Jesus did not promote himself that leads to pride and not seek self protection that leads to fear, since the kingdom attitude expels both pride and fear.

2. Running after vision and not after position, power and money: He received vision in 1968 and renewed in 1971, but was tempted to select position, power and money after his theological college but committed to become missionary in FMPB. In 1991 he got the vision of “graveyard to vineyard”. He quotes Ambani “if you are born as poor man, there is no problem but if you have small vision, it is sin”. We will never be satisfied by the power, position and money.

3. Keeping focused on Mission and not to be sidetracked: He says focused vision leads to focused mission specially the incarnation method of Jesus.

4. Balancing Principles and Practices: He claims this as theological concept and principle of communication and church planting method. He insists that we should not be satisfied of any principle if it is not applicable. Think theologically and act evangelically.

5. Using partnerships and networking: united we stand and divided we fall. He brought several organization and churches to work together which brought him success in Bihar. Working together works.

6. Being Strategic: His advice is to think strategically and study the bible with God’s strategic mindset. He trained himself through trainings of strategies. The strategies must be based on the vision and mission.

7. Balancing prayer and work: He says “I never made prayer time as an excuse to neglect my duties and responsibilities”. He also warns the danger of over emphasizing one over the other. He quotes Ravenhill “pray as if you don’t believe in work and work as if you don’t believe in prayer”.

8. Utilizing the power of information the importance of research: in 1975 involved in field survey in south Gujarat and in 1991 Bihar and found negative but prayers changed into positive. He says information is power that helps to understand the task and makes them easier to do. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

9. Building and cherishing friendships: Friendships are a gift from God. His friends circle grew in BBI, SAIACS, and in Bihar who became his partner later. He takes much effort to maintain the friendships. He was careful not to be too close nor too distant, and having friends from all age groups. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

10. Handling funds wisely as a good steward for God: it is a very sensitive matter. He believes all funds are from God therefore he suggests six steps to spend the money: 1. Asking the lord for his vision, 2. Share the vision with God’s people, 3. Channel the funds, 4. Spend them for the purpose, 5. Getting reports from the staff, 6. Sending the reports to the donors. “If we do God’s mission in God’s way, God’s resources will never lack.”

11. Aiming for excellence in doing everything: “Always my best is for God” he learned to attempt excellence in all aspects of life; studies, research, writing, publications, preaching, teaching, field work etc. he hates half‐hearted work. He is willing to sacrifice anything to complete the work.

12. Maximizing resources that the Lord has given: He tries to minimize the usage of money to bring maximum results. Paul maximized God’s grace and became a blessing to the gentiles.

13. Learning the value of time: He always felt the urgency and value of the time. He has kept wall clock in each room. He works even in travel. Paul says redeem the time or buy up the opportunities. Wisely spending the leisure time. Teach us to number the time. A leader should not spend time on secondary matters.

14. Having a positive attitude towards life: His thankful heart enabled him to develop positive attitude that he considers as self‐esteem. Shiv Khera says “many of our blessings are hidden treasures”.

15. Recognizing the demands of cross‐cultural mission is more than any other ministries: he rejected invitations for teaching ministries in bible colleges. He focused always what he was called for; cross‐cultural ministry.

16. Developing a disciplined life: His circumstances of young age helped him to develop disciplined life in eating, sleeping, working, studying, social relationships etc. discipline makes a person, family, religion and nation great. We must bring everything under the control of God. Lover of discipline gets knowledge but hater is stupid.

17. Learning that failures are not final: He failed many times, but never gave up.

18. Enjoying hard work: hard work both physical and mental work became his life style which enabled him to develop moral courage and bearing burden. His younger son is witnessing his hard work for less pay even in the age of less work for more earnings. There is no substitute for hard work therefore commitment is needed for hard work.

19. Taking risks in life: “it is better to take risk and fail than to have never taken a risk. Faith honors God and God honors faith.

20. Enjoying solitude: “me and my God” feeling has been impressed on my heart, he says. He learned the art of living in the presence of God. For Paul prison becomes a palace when there is the presence of God. “The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone”.

21. Living Christian life as celebration in different occasions: He learned to celebrate the Christian life. He has conducted many personal and ministerial celebrations which he considers of sharing of joy of the Lord.

22. Balancing prosperity and bearing the cross: Over the years he learned how to handle the prosperity and sufferings that is life‐long challenge. He narrates his life model into two: 1. Traditional missionary model and 2. Modern missionary life.

23. Persevering as essential for successful leadership: as a missionary he faced challenges of jealousy, envy and accusation but his perseverance enabled him overcome every time as Paul, Hudson Taylor, William Carey since Jesus is the finisher of faith who is also the funder.

24. Practicing holy boldness as indispensable for leaders in spiritual warfare: He remembers the oppositions from Hindu militants but the present church growth there itself which is the result of holy boldness.

25. Balancing character and competence: character is what we are and competence is what we can do. Both related to one another but also different from one another. Integrity and sincerity are the key components required in balancing character and competence.

26. Honoring heroes and heroines: he developed reading missionary biographies which helped in the time of crisis, suffering and pains. The loose in flood and fire in missionaries’ life and how God restored them helped him to apply in his life. He lists his heroes and heroines names.

27. Appreciation the past: remembering the past helped him to be thankful and humble to the lord. Remembering the past as Paul is a biblical mandate.

28. Acknowledging my limitations: he acknowledges of his limitation in English language, shy personality, but brings out how D.L. Moody and Paul had survived with physical problems and concludes it is all not purposeless in God’s plan.

29. Living a simple lifestyle: he developed his life as simple as possible but great in achievement in ministry.

30. Enjoying doing simple things: cooking and hospitality seems simple but enjoying and making other enjoying is an art that he learned in his life and ministries.
